Training accredited by the International Society of Schema Therapy (ISST).
Schema Therapy is a psychotherapeutic approach adapted for clients with chronic and long standing psychological disorders. Numerous studies indicate its efficiency even among clients that have shown resistance to other forms of therapy, in particular those with personality disorders. Schema Therapy is an integrative approach, combining aspects of CBT, Psychoanalysis, Gestalt Therapy, Constructivism, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), providing a clear and efficient model that give insight into psychological disorders. Problems are addressed on an emotional, cognitive and behavioural level, applying a number of techniques from various different types of therapy. The variety of these creative techniques allows the therapist to teach their client in such a way that reinforces the model of the Healthy Adult, allowing them the space in which they can find adaptive ways to meet their specific needs at a more profound level.
The classroom hours will be based on practical and experiential learning, showing numerous videos and performing a variety of role-play exercises. To receive international recognition as a Schema Therapy Practitioner, there will be an opportunity to do 20 hours of individual supervision with a certified therapist as well as 5 hours of video assessment (4 hours assessed by an internal supervisor, 1 hour by an external supervisor). Payment for the supervision sessions is separate to the training fees.
